About Jharapada Durga Puja
The Jharapada Durga Puja Samitee is one of Bhubaneswar’s most vibrant cultural and spiritual organizations, celebrated for its devotion, unity, and grandeur. Over the years, it has grown into Odisha’s biggest Durga Puja, attracting lakhs of devotees daily, not only from across the state but also from different parts of India and abroad.
Guided by the leadership and constant support of Shri Jagannath Pradhan, and strengthened by the active participation of the local community, the Puja has become a symbol of cultural pride and spiritual heritage. This year, the Puja has been shifted from Jail Chhak to Melan Padia, offering more space to welcome visitors and host cultural programmes with grandeur and comfort.
Our Heritage
For 2025, the special attraction is the Bauda Garh Fort-themed pandal, reviving the memory of Jharapada’s historic identity. Once known as Bauda Garh, this area was part of the ancient Sisupal Garh, much like Badagarh and Rasulgarh — where every “Garh” means Fort. With its historical landmarks like Rani Gadhua Pokhari, Raja Gadhua Pokhari, Padma Pokhari, Shiva Mandir, and Laxmisagar Pond, the locality carries a deep cultural connection. The pandal theme pays tribute to this proud legacy while bringing devotees closer to their roots.
